HI,
I am looking for some assistance intergrating LYNC and CUCM 8.6.2. I want to confirm my application and diretory rules specifically.
I am not sure what else I need as a rule than what I have listed below.
I have numbers in AD in Plus E.164 format, so for example, +14085551212.
My numbers in Call Manager are 4 digit example 5555
I am looking for assistance with application and Directory dial rules.
From what I understand my application rules should be :
begins with +1408555
number of digits 12
total to be removed 8
I am alos looking for assitance with Directory rules, For example extension is 5555
From what I understand my directory rules should be :
number begins with 55
number of digits 4
prefix +1408555
I also understand there should be an application dial rule to dial externally
From what I understand my application rules should be :
begins with +
nuber of digits 12
total to be removed 1
Thanks
Randall

You can use dial rule for outbound dialing but you could simply build a Route Pattern that mathes /+ dialing, i.e.
/+.1[2-9]XX[2-9]XXXXXX, strip PreDot, prefix off-net access code if you are using one
Your Rule does not prefix access code, if you are using it you may want to add it.

So my application dial rules, taking in consiferation dialing 9 for an access code and + dial.
example for lond distance dialing with access code 9
number begins with 9
number of digits 12
total digits to be removed 1
prefix 9
this would hit a route pattern 9.1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx
Thanks,
Randall

You do not need dial rules for something that is already matched via Route pattern. Dial rules are only needed when application formatting i.e. CUCI-Lync seeing AD telephoneNumbers does not match any routes in CUCM. For example user uses click to dial for an external number which is formatted as +12125551234, but CUCM does not have any routes starting with +, you can use application dial rule that will perform the modification. If the number is already formatted as 912125551234 and you have route pattern 9.1[2-9]xx[2-9]xxxxxx the rule is then unnecessary.
