Migration from MCS to UCS VM for CUCM 8.x

First,

We have Cisco MCS Server running CUCM version 8.0.3-2000.

We are migrating to Cisco UCS C-series (C210M1) VM with CUCM 8.5.

CUCM version on MCS is 8.0.3-2000.

On new UCS C-series VM CUCM verson is 8.5.

Shall we take backup on MCS server (8.0) and restore same on new UCS server (CUCM8.5)

Backup from 8.0 can be restored on 8.5 ? If not what is the procedure to migrate?

Secondly,

At present Cisco Unified Messaging 7.x is running on MCS server with windows 2003 OS.

It is planned to migrate to UCS C-series Unity Connection 8.x

Since Migration from Unified Messaging to Unity connection, what is the migration method?

Waiting for experts feedback.

Rgds

Rajesh

No, backup and restore is on the EXACT SAME VERSION (going as far as SRs/ES)

Either you install 8.0(3) on VM, restore, and then upgrade to 8.5(1), or you upgrade to 8.5(1) on MCS and then restore on VM.

For Unity to CUC migration either on MCS or VM you use COBRAS. The reconfiguration guide for the CUC version you want will have all the steps, all the info is available on CCO.

Assuming you want UM you need CUC 8.5(1) SU1 at least.
