We are running call manager 4.1(3)sr3c
We are using a Cisco 7960 phone with one line configured.
What is the best way to have this phone monitor a voice mail box for new messages. This is a general or dummy voice mail box with no phone associated to it.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi,
what mailbox system do you have ?
I believe that if you hace cisco unity or unity express you shoudl be able to configure such the MWI on the handset turn on when there are message(s). Or you can configure a button on the pone for a very fast check.

We are using Unity voicemail.

In Unity, pull up the subscriber for the generic mailbox that you have setup, go to the Messages tab and add an the extension(s) of the phone(s) you want to get the MWI when their's VM in the generic box. Or you can setup one of the other lines on the 7960 to be the extension of the common VM box and then you'll get the indicator on that line (but not the MWI) when there is voice mail. Just make sure you have that line setup to forward all calls to VM so it doesn't ring if you don't want incoming calls to be answered. You only get the MWI light on the primary line of a phone unless you setup the subscriber to light the MWI for other lines.
