MWI troubleshooting

Syed

Dear All,

Could anyone help me with MWI troubleshooting tips, please? I have essential knowledge of CUC and I want to learn more.

1.MWI troubleshooting with SCCP & SIP?

2.When CUC is integrated with CUCM using SIP it does not need MWI on & off DNs and it is working just fine, how? what is happening at the backend?

3.How to fix Single or multiple/all user mwi issues?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Syed

Hi Syed,

1. Following links should help;

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/troubleshooting/guide/8xcuctsgx/8xcuctsg050.pdf

http://www.uccollabing.com/2016/02/12/troubleshooting-mwi-sip-cisco-unity-connection/

2. In case of SIP integration, CUCM simply gets unsolicited (out of dialog) NOTIFY from CUC with header as either MWI on or off.

3. Above links shared should help.

Hi Syed,

You can check the below points:

1. If SCCP integration is there then make sure the voice mail ports should have the CSS which has the partition of the phones.

2. Make sure that the extension configured on the CUC is in same format as to what you have on  CUCM.

3. If SCCP integration, please dial the mwi on ext then dial mwi off . if the phone led become red after dialing mwi on , then the disappear after dial mwi off that means mwi on & off configured properly on you cucm.

4. Disable the MWI on the user in unity connection, save it and enable it followed by a save.

CUC admin >>>> User >>> edit >>> message Waiting indicators

5. Make sure that the user are associated with the correct phone system in unity connection.

6. The MWI on and off numbers should be unique on CUCM.

7. Check the following on the SIP trunk security profile:

- Accept Out-of-Dialog REFER
- Accept Unsolicited Notification
- Accept Replaces Header

9. If using SIP on CUC port group, make sure that the port group has check “register with SIP server”  and “Enable message waiting indicator”.

10. If having a CUC cluster, make sure you have ports created for SUB as well on CUC.

11. If using SIP integration make sure the rerouting CSS has access to the partition of the DN associated with the phones.

Hope this helps! Please rate if useful.
