Need to block incoming calls on sip trunk for few DID numbers

Greetings,

I have a sip trunk with 100 extensions. ALL calls are working. Now user likes to block few DID numbers not to get incoming calls from outside the network and he wants the internal extensions to work normally.

I have used translation  patterns on call manager for routing incoming calls. 255XXXX to XXXX

2553000 - 2553099 -----> sip range

Internal extension numbers to be blocked are of two to three ranges . like first 20 numbers from 3000 to 3020 and few in the middle.

I have partitions INTERNAL,LOCAL,NATIONAL,MOBILE and INTERNATIONAL.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me out in this regard.

Kind Regards,

Syed Ethesham

The solution @b.winter referred to by blocking caller ids using voice translation profiles in the CUBE is absolutely the way to do. There is a second solution using inbound call routing on CUCM in the case where you can't (or don't want to) block the calls on the CUBE.

Blocking Inbound calls to Cisco Unified Communications Manager based on Caller ID

(On a side note, this solution also works on MGCP gateways for those that still use them.)

Let me see if I understand your requirement correctly, you don’t want a few numbers to receive any calls from external callers? If so there are a few different ways to achieve this.

  • One way is to use an E164 number map in your gateway to not include these numbers, aka not route them to CM. With that the calls would stay on the gateway.
  • Another option is to create a specific calling search space that is used as the inbound CSS on the gateway/trunk. Create a partition that you put in that CSS and in that PT you create translation patterns that is set to block calls to the numbers that should not get external calls. As the TPs are put in a PT that is only visible in the CSS used as inbound from the gateway it would not affect internal calls.
  • Other methods are the once suggested by @Maren Mahoney and @b.winter

Greetings,

Thank you for your suggestion, I have tried to block the specific DID number with TP selected as block this pattern.

And it worked.

Appreciate it.
