Hello, trying to figure out how to have one user control two softphone devices that are located at different sites.
Current config is:
Site A:
Publisher, IM& P primary, Sub and Unity servers
Device DN #1 on Media grp, device pool, CSS and Partition configured for Site A
Site B:
Secondary SUB, Secondary Unity, Secondary IM&P nodes (All part of one cluster with Site A)
Device DN #2 on Media grp, device pool, CSS and Partition configured for Site B
When testing with both Devices assigned to one user and logging into IM&P at Site B cannot find phone services.
If I try individual users one for Site A and one for Site B both work fine logging into respective IM&P servers and can find phone services.
Trying to accomplish having a backup DN at Site B if Site A down and getting calls at Backup terminating number at that site but with one user id. Since IM&P will failover users, would like to be able to login to Site B with same id and be able to answer calls at that site that leverages local terminating numbers.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks!

What softphone are you talking about?
You can only have one Jabber device of each kind per user.

CSF device
If that is the case that answers a lot.
So to have a backup then you need a second user id associated with the backup device.

For Jabber users, you can only create one type of device per user although you can create multiple devices for each user. For example, you can create one tablet device and one CSF device but not two CSF devices.
Correct, if you want a user to have another CSF device, you would need to use another userID which in turn would end up consuming another user license.

If Both user in location A and B has to use CSF device, you need, for location A CSFA controlled By User A. and for location B CSFB controlled By User B.
If you concern is to have backup DN able to answer calls at that site, Both CSF A and B can have same extensions. i Hope that serve your purpose.
