Permission denied moving CME file to router using TFTPD32

John Cheetley

Hi again cisco techs,

Thanks to Jamie Valencia and other helpful respondents to my previous questions.

Upon executing

archive tar /xtract tftp://ipaddress/filename.tar flash:

to transfer cme file to 2691 router, I get

Permission denied.

Using tftpd32 for this. IP address, DNS, etc are allocated to cisco phone.

Admin level is 15.

File is 65 mb compressed holding cme 4.3.

Router has 128 memory.

TFTP address is same as DHCP

Router can ping TFTP server ok and DNS too

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks again in advance.

Hi John,

Just I was thinking , u can do ftp [first copy file to router ] and then, install.you can use Microsoft ftp or google for any free ftp .

after TAR file is copied on the router and then, you can extract.

Hi John,

Can u cross-check whether tar file is stored in location where tftpd32.exe is installed ?

secondly, any windows firewall is installed on PC which is blocking tftp.

regds,

aman

Thanks for your response Amanso.

You mean the base or current folder directory?

Windows firewall is disabled ATM.

Hi John,

Suppose u have a TFTP folder which has this tar file along with tftpd32.exe stored/executed in this folder.

regds,

aman

Thanks for the reply Amanso,

Unfortunately this hasnt worked.Any other ideas if you have are appreciated.

Hi John,

Try this:

First transfer the file from TFTP32 to CME, second extract the file from CME.

Sometime is better do  the job step by step

I am no CME guy but I have seen that error message before.

1.  Check the original file for permission.  Make sure it's enabled read/write;

2.  Check the directory of the router and make sure there's no other subdirectory, like "update".

NOTE:  John, please delete your other thread about the same topic.  This minimizes confusion for everyone.

Thanks leolaohoo,

Deleted other thread. Will try your points tonight..:)

Hi Amanso,

Tried your weblink. Still access denied. Unfortunately. Downloaded FileZilla Server. Followed directions in video. Still access denied. I also noticed that when I upgraded the flash memory to 256mb. Repowering router shows

Warning:flash:flash does not exist. Command not retained message.

sh ver gives this output...

Hi Amanso,

Your youtube solution kind of worked but apparently I ran out of space. But I had a 256 mb flash memory. And compressed file size is 77mb.. i dont understand?

Hi John,

Can u cross-check size of flash in slot 0: ?

Also, please share the exact error message which u get ?

regds,

aman

Hi Amanso,

Thanks for your help again.

Checked forums for varied ways to check flash memory..only found standard commands. How do you do this please?

Done search via google but as this was more specific to slot0 on router, didnt conclude anything.

The 2nd answer is displayed in my new discussion thank you.

Hi John,

Please issue the command  dir slot0: and provide th eoutput.

or  if possible, provide show tech of router.

regds,
