phone 8831 is not compatible with CME ?

Can't connect new (V02) conference phone 8831 to CME 10.5. In compatibility list fw.ver. 9.3.3.5 accepted, but in V02 phone downgrade from fw.10.* is not allowed (new DCU problem).

At december 2015, release 11.0 of CME was released, with support 8831 on fw "cmterm-88xx.10-3-1-20" (listed in SW compatibility list). This firmware work with other 88xx phones, but this fw in not load to 8831 and, as I see, is not compatible with this model.

How connect this phones to CME?

Hi,

I am not sure if I understood the problem correctly. But I have used 8831 with CME 10.5 without any problem.

1. Configure Fast Track support for 8831

2. Upload the firmware to CME flash memory

3. Configure firmware load under voice register global

4. Configure the DN and Pool

The phone firmware will be upgraded and registered with CME

Mohammed, which version of phone you have ? CP-8831 or CP-8831 V02 ? You can see "PID" parameter on the label on the back of phone.

Just to ensure I'm understanding you, is this an accurate restatement of your situation: You bought a 8831 V02, plugged it into your network where it contacted a CME TFTP server that was issuing firmware 9.3.3.5 which the phone attempted to install and failed to do so. Now you're asking how to fix the phone.

Assuming that's correct you have a two step process in front of you:

  1. Load the 10.3.1-SR2 or newer firmware on CME TFTP. The V02 hardware must run on newer firmware.
  2. Use the workaround listed in field notice 64071 or 63899 to recover the phone. You can treat CUCM TFTP as interchangeable with the CME TFTP server.

Jonathan, I have no problem with "brick"-mode on 8831 V02 phone. My problem is new firmware - ver. 10.3.1 is not register with CME.
