POTS dial-peer trying to register with SIP Registrar

Hi All,

I was setting up CUBE-SIP-to-SIP trunk for PSTN. This router is also set up for SRST and it has relevant dial-peers configured. After configuring this I saw following messages trying to send the register messages to registrar:as.nipt.telstra.com. The service provider saw those message as well. To stop this initially I shut down all the dial-peers and later I had to add "no sip-register" and after no shut I can see those messages have stopped. I am now wondering why this happened? Why these dial-peers were sending the messages? Is adding "no sip-register" a solution or just a work around.

Thanks Roger - I have 2 user defined pots dial peers (4000 & 4001) and I added the "no sip-register" command on them, but for some reason I still see them when running "sh sip register status":

Not from what I know. What version of IOS are you using? If it’s a really old one you might want to consider an update.

Thanks Roger - we're using version 16.09.05, it's a little older but not super old.  It's strange though as the pots dial-peers do accept the "no sip-register" command, but still are showing when running "sh sip register status".  It doesn't seem to be causing any problems - just that the provider is receiving invalid register attempts, was hoping to prevent it to avoid confusion in any future troubleshooting..

Still a quite old one, at least when it comes to the release train. I would advice you to go to something more current, like 17.6.4.
