Remote Connectivity for IP Phones

Hello all,

If I read the manual correctly the only thing needed for remote connectivity of an 8851 if the CUCM is configured correctly is for the unit to register to the CUCM at least once on the LAN.  After that you can plug the 8851 into any ethernet port with Internet connectivity and the 8831 will tunnel back over the Internet to the CUCM and register.  Is that correct?

Hi,

That type of insecure connection will not work. Cisco 8851 can connect to Anyconnect and you can connect remotely. Here is the guide:

No, that's wrong, this doesn't work automagically as you explain.

You need to either deploy the Phone VPN configuration or MRA for that to happen.

Phone VPN does require the phone to connect inside the corporate network to get all the necessary config so it can work from the outside.

MRA would work without that, as you would need to use Public CA certificates for it to work.
