Hi guys,
is there any possibility to gain access to the root account on the CP-8851 from the 88xx series?
I tried all possible ways, all I got was the debug shell, not even a regular shell.
The Phone is running the SIP 10.2 firmware.
Moreover, the AUX port gives a lot of debugging information but the TX line seems to be disabled, so I cannot send anything to the phone.
Does anyone have any information on this?
I'd be so thankful if anyone can help me with this.
Thanks!
Alex

I need root access because Cisco managed to break NTP (discussed in another post). So there is absolutely no way of setting the time without CUCM. As I'm using the phone with the SIP load, this is a problem for me.

Yes. Working fine except for the date / time setting.

I've tried that, the XXX.cnf.xml is loaded successfully, the NTP address is set properly, the phone is doing an NTP request to the server, the server responds with the current time, but the phone seems to ignore it. As I said before, this was already discussed in another topic.

Tried already, with no success.

It's not under contract. I'll be switching to another brand, as Cisco cannot even handle such a ridiculous small thing as NTP or manual time setting...
Anyway, thank you for your quick replies!
