Dears,

I need to enable and configure session border controller SBC on my ASA 5520 firewall,

I have concern if my firewall is cabable with SBC or not, the ASA Version is 8.3(1),

We were not able to locate information on how to enable & configure SBC on the firewall, so I’d appreciate it if you can provide document, or guide us with the keywords to use in our search.

Thanks

Hussein Ismail

OK Chris,

Thanks for your kind reply,

Let's forget the SBC, now I need to terminate the sip trunk on either ASA 5520 or MGCP Voice Gateway (3845) as I've mentioned in my other post https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3639871#3639871  , so which one you recommend and why ?

Then, would you please guide me how to configure the proper solution.

Regards

Hussein

So, did the above answer your question as posted? If not let me know what else you need for this one as I answered your other question in the other post.

You cannot termiante SIP trunk on ASA, however ASA can be along the path and provide NATing, etc.

Chris

yes chris,

We can clos the discussion now.

Hi!

I was wondering what is the best way to run a SIP trunk through the ASA?  We currently have a Genband CS-15 softswitch and have a customer that wants us to set up a SIP trunk to route a local number over this trunk to a remote SIP server.  We can ping out to this server, but they can not get to our switch.  The ASA is blocking incoming IPs.  I'm think that we need to have a session border controller is what I was told.   How can we get this accomplished?

Thanks!

Scott
