Hey Wilson,

Bill is right on the money +5 points here Bill!

This behaviour changed with the release of CUCM 5.1(3) here is the clip

from the release notes for 5.1(3);

Disaster Recovery System

DRS now backs up CAR/CDR data automatically. You do not need to select the CAR/CDR feature to back up this data.

Hi Wilson,

Configuring Features to Back Up

Before you can schedule or start a backup job, you must configure the features that you want to back up. Perform the following steps to choose the features that you want to back up.

Procedure

Step 1 Navigate to the Disaster Recovery System. Log in to Cisco CallManager Administration, choose Disaster Recovery System from the Navigation menu in the upper, right corner of the Cisco CallManager Administration window, and click Go.

The Disaster Recovery System Logon window displays.

Step 2 Log in to the Disaster Recovery System by using the same Administrator username and password that you use for Platform Administration.

Step 3 Navigate to Backup>Configure Features.

Note Changing a backup feature changes it for both manual and scheduled backups.

Step 4 From the list of available features, choose the feature or features that you want to include in the backup and click Save. You must choose at least one feature.**Choose CDR_CAR**

Step 5 Continue with the next procedure for configuring a storage location.

Hi Rob,

I did the procudere, but, It show only Backup to "CCM", is not appear the option CAR_CDR to setting. Following the annex

Thanks,

Wilson

I have destroyed my lab copy of 5.1.3 but I thought that with 5x/6x/7x that the CAR data was backed up automatically as part of the CCM backup. I may be mistaken on 5x/6x but I am pretty sure 7x does this as my lab 7.1.3 system shows that CAR data would be backed up with CCM.

Assuming I am wrong, which is quite possible, then I would suggest making sure that:

a. you have the CAR service enabled and running on the pub (I assume you do or you wouldn't be concerned about backing it up)

b. you have the CDR flag enabled on your system(s) (again, you probably do)

On my lab systems I do not see the CAR option either but my CAR data is being backed up.

HTH.

Regards,

Bill
