SIP phones with MGCP gateways

David Harrell

Hello all,

I am new to CUCM, but I had a 8.6 cluster that I was succesfully able to P2V migrate to 11.0. The latest request is to move from PRIs to SIP Trunks. I have no knowledge of SIP, and barely any MGCP knowledge. I am wondering if I will have any interoperability issues if I keep my MGCP gateways, and use SIP protocol for the phones.

Any input is much appreciated!

Thanks! I have been looking at this for several hours today, and could not get calls to originate from the phone. Must be an issue with my configs.

David, CUCM without any doubt plays the role of Protocol Mixer infact that is one of its major functionality and hence there should not be an issue for the SIP Phones to route call over MGCP gateways. Hence, as you indicated try looking at your initial configuration and then troubleshoot the issue accordingly. In case you are facing any specific issue and if you have checked everything feel free to post the question here then.

Regards
