SIP trunk between CUCM 8.5 and Avaya 500V2; RTP port range.

Hello,

I have am trying to get a SIP trunk working between my CUCM 8.5 cluster and a remote Avaya IP Office 500V2.  I am currently getting one-way audio, and it was discovered that the remote side is set to use UDP 10000 - 20000 for RTP.  Apparently this is a global setting on the Avaya and can't be changed without breaking trunks to other locations.  I tried to create a new SIP profile to assign to this trunk, but the profile would not allow a RTP start port outside the range 16384-32767.  Is this a deal breaker for the integration?  or do I have any other options to use the non-standard ports?  Thanks!

Seems like you cannot assign a port range outside of 16384-32767.

In the documentation for SIP Profile Configuration it specifies only that range and nothing outside of it.

May be a deal breaker, sorry

Ya, looks like that the older version of CUCM didnt let you do this since I remember doing it for the newer versions. Looks like this was introduced in the 9.x timeframe.

You could use a CUBE that is running a recent version of code to do the same thing till you can upgrade maybe.

I dont have a CUCM 8.5 in front of me but did you try changing the port on the SIP profile, and that didnt work?

Nope.  I had hoped it would be that easy, but I get an error stating that "Start Media port must be in the range 16384-32767."

Ah, interesting.  Well good to know that it was updated in later versions.  Thank you very much.  A CUBE could be a viable alternative, if there is a pressing need before we upgrade early next year.  Thanks for the info!
