 Hi Cisco techs,

Please advised if this is in the wrong forum.

Creation of sip trunk.. man there's so much to this stuff....

Keep getting a Add failed. [491] The specified name has invalid characters or is not formatted correctly for this device type.

I have created 5 separate windows of details. I don't think I should be uploading this...

Is there a link for some guidance to interpret each field. Using 7.1.2..

Where are you trying to add this SIP Trunk ? What command etc you are using ? A bit more information regarding the product in use would be helpful.

For CUCM help -> this page

if this helps, please rate

When creating many types of objects in CUCM the names must be contiguous (no spaces), and for the most part the name can't have any other punctuation except dash (-) and underscore (_). Also, in the case of a SIP Trunk, the name can't be longer than (I believe) 50 characters. What are you trying to name your trunk?

Jaime's suggestion of using "Help > For this page" is a good one. That will show you what the different fields on the page are for and what your options are.

Hi there

As Maren said, could be a naming issue. Make sure you dont have Blank spaces in the device name filed. Seperate the name with - or _ (dash or underscore)

Calid Characters include [a-z A-Z, 0-9, _ , -]

Hope this helps!

Cheers
Rath!
