Teamed NIC problem

Hello Guys,

I have trouble with one of my call manager server (MCS7825). We configured teamed NIC via the CLI command "set network failover enable" but when we did a test we had the following behavior:

Before to test, both interfaces were up and running + activy led. Now step by step what I did and what happened:

     - Remove Cable from port 1;

     - Both interfaces fall down !!

     - Replug cable on port 1;

     - Port 1 came back up but port 2 still down;

     - Remove cable from port 2 + replug the cable;

     - Port 2 up !

     - Did a new test --> unplug the cable 1;

     - Interface 1 down, able to ping interface 2 ! --> Teaming working

     - re plug cable on port 1;

     - Both interface down again;

The only solution to have network again was to unplugged both cable and replug them !

It's a very strange behavior, has someone already have such issue ?

what are the settings u have configured on switch port and MCS port?

can u share the output of show network eth0 details from MCS server.

Set the two ports on the switch you're connecting to as a port-channel.  

Your configuration on the MCS is not the problem.

We did the test this morning on our subscriber we had the following:

   - Cable eth0 removed;

   - Eth1 up and running;

   - replug Eth0 / remove cable eth1

   - Eth0 still down.

here our configuration

Why we have to configure a port channel ? Could you please detailed your idea?

Well, you're trying to share 1 IP and 1 MAC on two switch ports.   If you don't setup a port channel, your configuration of NIC failover won't fail over until your switch times out with the ARP info on the working NIC and ARPs for the info and finds your 2nd NIC with the same info.  

What brand and model of switch are you connecting your MCS to?

You should match up your port speed / duplex as well on the switch and MCS as well.

What happens on Switch port after the cable is taken out and then,plugged again[UP or Down] ?
