Translation Rule /.*/ question

Hi everybody,

I have this translation rule set on my router " /.*/     /5551234/ ". Lets say that 5551234 is a valid number that I can place a call.

Base on the books and cbt's I've read and watched, translation rule /.*/ matches any number on the left of * that occured zero or more times, like it matches the following

" " --> empty

"4"

"444"

"4235"

"1234567"

It also said that If I just lift the handset and just let the dial tone pass, then translation rule /.*/ is matched <=== Is this statement true?

If the above statement is true then my question is on where will I apply the translation rule " /.*/     /5551234/ " where I will just lift the handset and do nothing (not even push a single digit) and then 5551234 will be called?

Hi ,

voice translation-rule 1
rule 2 /.*/  /5551234/

voice  translation-profile dial
translate called 1

ephone-dn  1   dual-line
number 1000
translation-profile outgoing dial

Using the above commands you should be able to achieve what you want.

Whenever you pick the phone having number 1000 ,the translation profile dial will be matched and the number 5551234 will be dialed out.

For more information on translation profiles and rules you can refer the following link :
