Unity Connection 8.x. Can an administrator access a subscriber's mailbox without changing the subscriber password?
TIA,
Brian

Hi Brian,
No, even the Admin would have to change the PIN if they wanted to access
the User Mailbox.
Cheers!
Rob
If you are not using PCA you might be able to leverage this without changing the
TUI PIN

To access messages in an ad-hoc fashion, I don't believe so. If you needed to access a message or messages then you could possibly leverage COBRAS (backup subscribers and messages). There is also a DRS Message Fisher utility but it only works on 7.x. It allows you to access a message within a DRS backup; however, backups are encrypted on 8.x so the tool currently does not work for this.
Administrators can access an individual user's PCA but this is separate of the Inbox. See below:
Select a user and then from the Edit menu, select Private Distribution Lists (a message will appear that states, "Launches CPCA"). The user's PCA is launched and you are taken to the Private Distribution List configuration page within Cisco Unity Assistant (a component of PCA).
Notes:
This is a documented procedure. It can be found via the Unity Connection help pages via search on "Private Distribution List" and is documented in the User Moves, Adds, and Changes Guide for Unity Connection. The documented "intent" is as follows:
"Users can use the private distribution lists...to send voice messages to more than one user at a time. They can set up and manage their private lists by using Cisco Unity Assistant or the phone. While you (i.e., the administrator) can also set up, manage, and delete private lists for users, the user who owns a private list if the only person who can send voice messages to it."
However, this provides access to the all of the options accessible within Unity Assistant via PCA for a selected user and not just Private Distribution List settings.

Thanks. The question comes from an RFP we're working on. These are suitable concessions hopefully.

Hi David Hailey,
While I did get in from here, where is it you can find your current message files in your voicemail inbox?
As we do not have the licensing to use PCA, I had to go ahead and find a work around.
One of our satellite locations is still Unity 6.0. I was able to set up a vm box there and record my prompt I would like to use. I then extracted the physical file from the \\exchange\
I uploaded the wav file to the CME autoattendant script already.
