Unity connection cluster issue

Hello,

We have Cisco Unity version 9 and we have one cluster with a publisher set as primary and subscriber set as a secondary. When both servers are running to take calls in port manager, if we access the voicemail from any cisco phone it goes to the subscriber which it should go to the publisher. The only way it goes thru the publisher is by stopping the subscriber from taking calls. Also, if we put subscriber as primary same issue we need to stop the subscriber from taking calls in port manager in order to hit the publisher.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

How is your integration from CUCM - SCCP or SIP?

If SCCP, take a look at your Line Group configuration to see which ports are in each group and the order of the Hunt List.
If SIP, check the Route Group configuration to see if the sub is first in the list and set to top down distribution.

Hi Horacio,

Just wanted to add a FYI to the good tips from Mike (+5). Having the Sub in a CUC cluster take the majority of calls is actually the recommended Cisco design.

"Although it is possible to balance the load of calls that the Unity Connection servers handle in a Unity Connection cluster, most of the call traffic should be directed to the subscriber server."

"In Unity Connection Administration, all the ports that share the same device name prefix are in a one port group. (If there are ports that share a different device name prefix, they must be in a separate port group.) Beginning with the answering port that has the lowest number in its display name, assign half the answering ports to the subscriber server so that the subscriber server answers most incoming calls."

Cheers!
