Unity Connections Sync Database

How do I tell when the databases are sync'd up in Unity Connections?  We have UC 7.1.5 in a duel cluster and we are going to replace both servers. I don't want to do a backup and then restore to the new servers. I want to replace the 2nd server and sync then up, then make it the primary and repeat for the primary server.
