USB install CUCM 9 on MCS 7835

hello everyone

i have a customer want update CUCM from 7.1.5 to 9

and i have update it OK on a VMware

but now they want use their MCS 7835 to run the CUCM 9.....

now can i use USB device to install ? because the CUCM 9 ios is too big then DVD.....

You will need to use a dual layer DVD for this which has a capacity of around 8.5 GB, USB is not supported for cucm install.

Hi Liu,

In addition to what Manish has said[+5] , u can upgrade the CUCM by keeping the patch on your PC [ through which CUCM is reachable] and upload the patch on to CUCM servers through SFTP like Freeftpd software by using GUI of OS administration [Software Upgrades--Software Installation/Upgrade] page.

Hi Liu,

this upgrade would be a Refresh Upgrade and should be performed during maintenance window since servers reboot and system is not available during upgrade.

In regards to using a MCS 7835, you may want to check the compatability guide here first. Note, some of the 7835 models only allow bridged upgrades. I would stray away from physical CUCM installs, as Cisco seems to be continuing to move towards their virtual model.
