Hi,
When userA fwd all to UserB we want to be able to allow callers to leave a VM on UserB.
This is not happening. UserC calls UserB when User A does not answer unity picks up instead of letting userC leave a msg on UserB.
UserA does not have a vm box. User B does.
I already have:
Any ideas how to make this work?

I resolved my own problem.
UserA no VM profile
UserB VM profile
A is forward B. Caller calling C needs to land on User B's vm profile.
Under Cisco Unity Connection this done by using the Alternate Extension under the UserB profile. CUC>Users>UserB>Edit>Alternate Extensions>Add UserA DN.
This most efficient without having to set a global setting.

When the parameter is checked, with the following scenario:
A calls B --> B forwards C --> C forwads to Unity. Then the call will land at the voicemail box of C.
When the parameter is unchecked, with the following scenario:
A calls B --> B forwards C --> C forwads to Unity. Then the call will land at the voicemail box of B.
This is works as designed.

Hi - no.
UserA is forwarding all calls to B. A ----> B. When B does not answer I want to be allow callers calling A to leave a voicemail msg on B's vmbox.
Caller C calls -----A ---> fwd all B, if B does not answer allow callers to leave a msg on B's Unity Connection voicemail.

What "no"? This is how it works.
Either the first redirecting party is used in unity as Voicemail box destination, or the last redirecting party. There is nothing in between.
In your case, you would probably need the parameter to be checked.

are you talking about this parameter? It's already checked.

As already said, if the parameter is checked, the vm-box of the last user in the forwarding chain is used.
If it is unchecked, the vm-box of the first user in the forwarding chain is used.
With this parameter, you can control the behaviour.
And if the correspondig user has no vm-box, the caller will hear the default-operater message.

How would anyone be able to leave a message to userB when there is no VM box created for that user as you yourself wrote “UserB does not have a vm box.”?

B does have a vmbox. A does not.

That is not what you originally wrote, but I guess that you might have updated your original post. If it doesn’t work and you have checked the parameter that you and @b.winter have been going back and forward about the next step to do is to check what happens to the call when it reaches CUC. To do so you can use the port monitor tool. That should tell you what CUC does with the call. A guess would be that the number that CM sends for the redirect number does not match with the extension of userB VM box.

Even though this works it’s not a solution to your actual problem. There is something wrong in your setup that makes CUC not see the number of the last redirect. Of course you can make due with that your original issue now no longer affects you, or you can spend the time to find the actual root cause of this issue. Who knows what might come out of that, at a minimum you’ll likely learn a thing or two along the road.
