I have installed a VG224 in a naked lab 19" rack
When temperature goes high three fans are very noisy
Is there any workaround ? i.e. raplacing fan with different brand/model , or reducing speed/treshold via configuration , or fool pwm rpm managing , or more, reducing speed via resistors ?
As cooling is obviosuly needed, I suppose the best solution is fan replacement with quieter one..
Suggestions ?
Thank you

Hi,
If you have a valid Cisco support contract open a case with TAC to check this issue.

Not really an issue, the fan are just noisy when rotating at top speed due to inner heat, not a "malfunction" noise.
As units are not inside a datacenter , rather on my house where I sit 2 meters apart, I'm looking for a "home" solution like replacing fan with quieter ones or reduce fan top speed (not suggested however).

I would look for other fans that are quieter than the standard stock variants. However as they are rather small in diameter it will be hard to get it really quiet as they are noisy in nature in that size.

Yes, there are few suggestions related to other cisco switches , like Noctua 40x20mm, would it worth a try ? who knows...
Also, VG224 ones are PWM fan (three wires) and their speed is regulated dynamically with temperature, is this hardcoded or controlled by some configuration commands ?

There are from what I know no option for controlling this.
