Dear All,

We have Cisco TMs 14.3.0 running on Windows server 2008 R2 with SQL server 2008. Now my system department forces us to upgrade all system to Server 2016. We have VCS 7.2.1 and endpoints  C40, ex90, sx20,sx80, Webex room kit +. There are a few questions regarding the upgrade:

1) Should it be done as a migration? Or can be upgraded the base OS, SQL and then the TMS?

2) If it is migration, how can migrate the Database?

3) How can we transfer the licenses from the old system to the new?

4) What are the compatible versions of SQL/Server/TMS?

Thank You

1) Should it be done as a migration? Or can be upgraded the base OS, SQL and then the TMS?

- I would recommend to perform migration and upgrade of TMS application/database to Windows Server 2016. The base OS, SQL and TMS upgrade will be more complicated as there is no direct upgrade path from Windows 2008 to 2016.

2) If it is migration, how can migrate the Database?

See the steps mentioned in this document:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/conferencing/telepresence-management-suite-tms-version-14/117896-technote-tms-00.html

3) How can we transfer the licenses from the old system to the new?

You will need to open Cisco TAC case as you will be doing major version change.

4) What are the compatible versions of SQL/Server/TMS?

The latest Cisco TMS software version (i.e. 15.9) supports Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2017. See

SQL Server Software and Permission Requirements.
