Hi,
I am attempting to set up G.8032 ERPS on our ME3600s that run 15.3(2)S. I want to know the specific procedure to do so on a live, production ring. When I attempt to do this today, the interfaces added as the 'port0' and 'port1' interface immediately block all VLANs and I get kicked out of the switch. Because of this, I was unable to look at the status of the ring. Luckily, I predicted this might happen and did a 'reload in 5' prior to adding the interfaces into the ring and the switch went through an automatic reload and let me back in.
Is it common practice to configure a "point-to-point" SVI and put it into the 'exclusion-list' so that it can be used for direct access to the switch during a configuration? I've read this document:
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/G.8032_Ethernet_Ring_Protection_%28ERP%29_Administrative_Procedures
but it's not terribly detailed and is slightly ambiguous in places. Any tips would be appreciated.
