Hola.

Need quick help to identify where MPLS LDP issue is, PE to P, take a look below, can be quick fix, but interesting issue.

I have 7606 MPLS PE router, IOS Version 12.2(33)SRC4, with following mods:

1-subslot SPA Interface Processor-600  7600-SIP-600 <--- link to P router

Supervisor Engine 720 (Active)         WS-SUP720-3BXL

Directly connected to 12416/PRP MPLS P router, Version 3.5.2, at remote site via optical DWDM.

0/8/CPU0        PRP(Active)     N/A             IOS XR

0/10/0          SPA             SPA-10X1GE-V2

7606 was recently fully reconfigured for restoration after full site outage and MPLS vpn forwarding plane lost connectivity since.

Hi,

LDP is not coming up due to password mismatch. On PE1 you have configured ctB$1pM while on core it is ctB$1PM. Please correct password on either side and check if LDP comes up.

From below logs it is clear that both routers are able to transmit/receive each other's LDP hello. It should be related to password only.

PE1#sh mpls ldp disc

 Local LDP Identifier:

    10.100.100.214:0

    Discovery Sources:

    Interfaces:

        GigabitEthernet1/0/0 (ldp): xmit/recv

            LDP Id: 10.100.100.1:0

P1#sh mpls ldp discov

Local LDP Identifier: 10.100.100.1:0
Discovery Sources:
  Interfaces:

    GigabitEthernet0/10/0/2 : xmit/recv

LDP Id: 10.100.100.214:0, Transport address: 10.100.100.214
Hold time: 15 sec (local:15 sec, peer:15 sec)

Hello,

First of all I want to point out that you are using pretty old code on both the PE and the P router. its necessary to upgrade the software on both these routers.

Coming to the problem, so you are seeing LDP neighborship from one side but not from other. Is that correct. Could you please confirm if you have loopback to loopback reachability between PE and P router.

Could you please share the below output:

- show mpls ldp bindings <P_loopback> (on PE1)
- show tcp brief | in .646
- show mls cef exception status

- were there any recent changes done on the router after which this problem was triggered.

Also, please capture the show log output (in a file) from the PE router to see if there are any error logs reported. if there is any problem on the 7600 platform, you might be get some errors there.

Regards

Vinit

Thanks

Hi Vint,

Thanks for reply.. I agree, code on these boxes are too old, but the boxes will swap out soon.

Actually, I am not seeing LDP from both ways:

Hi,

LDP is not coming up due to password mismatch. On PE1 you have configured ctB$1pM while on core it is ctB$1PM. Please correct password on either side and check if LDP comes up.

From below logs it is clear that both routers are able to transmit/receive each other's LDP hello. It should be related to password only.

PE1#sh mpls ldp disc

 Local LDP Identifier:

    10.100.100.214:0

    Discovery Sources:

    Interfaces:

        GigabitEthernet1/0/0 (ldp): xmit/recv

            LDP Id: 10.100.100.1:0

P1#sh mpls ldp discov

Local LDP Identifier: 10.100.100.1:0
Discovery Sources:
  Interfaces:

    GigabitEthernet0/10/0/2 : xmit/recv

LDP Id: 10.100.100.214:0, Transport address: 10.100.100.214
Hold time: 15 sec (local:15 sec, peer:15 sec)

Hi Akash,

Thank you so much!!

Nail on the head, 100% success immediately.
