OSPF domain is the collection of Areas/Routers under common administration.Cisco implemented the Domain parmeter lately ,in order to support the cross vendor connections.You can set the command by domain-id .Does that answer your question?

Perfect explanation Mr Guest.Also we use it when we want these cross vendor to talk using LSA type-3 instead of LSA type-5. They will appear as sites under the same OSPF Domain.
