Hi,
I am trying to transport unframed E1 over our MPLS netwrok. Is there any Cisco card/module that support TDMoIP protocol. We have two PA-MC-STM 1 module that is installed in our 7604 PE routers but our test to provide the E1 over MPLS network fails.
Please if someone has some idea of using cisco module to provide TDMoIP .
regards

I doubt that such modue exists...
I have some such projects and I use Loop telecoms 6700. http://www.looptelecom.com/product.php?product_id=120
In case you found any module from cisco, let me know.

You can use the Circuit Emulation over Packet (CEoP) cards with 7600-SIP-400.
The SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM= can be used if you want to carry E1 over a pseudowire.
More information can be found at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76ovwcep.html

Hi,
I have a question under the same topic as i was going through the configs for the CEoP it uses xconnect with MPLS encapsulation i want to know what is the difference between layer 2 MPLS Vpn which is also configured using same command and offers same purpose.
So basic question is what is the difference between Mpls layer 2 VPN and CEoP ?
Any clarification would be appreciated.

Hi,
MPLS L2VPN and CEoP use the same packet switched network infrastructure and use the same
pseudowire signalling. However, CEoP demands special structure, as we deal with TDM/Circuit Emulation.
2 important RFCs:
RFC 5085:
A method for encapsulating structured (NxDS0)
Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) signals as pseudowires over packet-
switching networks (PSN)
and
RFC 4553:
This document describes a pseudowire encapsulation for Time Division
Multiplexing (TDM) bit-streams (T1, E1, T3, E3) that disregards any
structure that may be imposed on these streams, in particular the
structure imposed by the standard TDM framing.
Because this is TDM, the clocking is important, hence the special HW requirements.
Thanks,
Luc

Hi,
I'm using the document http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76cfgcep.html for reference.
Is it possible to use the same E1 controller from SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM in SIP-400 both for configuring CEM groups for CESoP and as a clock source for the chassis?
Thanks, kind regards,
Edi

Hi Edi
Yes you can, In the same document refer to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76cfgcep.html#wp1599278
However, as a design best practice you should always consider using a separate clock source rather than receiving it inline on the CEM PW.

Hi Vivek,
I don't intend to use ACR but using one of the 24 E1s as a clock source and in the mean time carry the same E1's data via CEoP. The configuration should look like this:
controller e1 0/0/1
clock source line
!
clock source line
network-clock select 1 controller e1 0/0/1
!
controller e1 0/0/1
cem-group 0 timeslots 1
!
interface cem0/0/1
cem 0
xconnect 1.1.1.1 1 encapsulation mpls
!
The two features work if configured separately. The question is if they work together on the same E1.
Thanks,
Edi

Hi Edi
This is supported, you will have to use "clock source internal" on all other E1 interfaces.
Also, for unframed E1 transport you would need to configure the E1 as:
controller e1 0/0/1
cem-group 0 unframed
!
