Hi,
I am trying to upgrade a Cisco Prime appliance from 3.4>3.7. However, the pre-installation is failing and the output states to check the logs. However, i do not know which log file to check that contains this information. This does not seem to be documented anywhere either:
Initiating Application Upgrade...
Stage 1 of 7: Transferring file
-- complete.
Stage 2 of 7: Unpacking file
-- complete.
Stage 3 of 7: Executing pre-install
ERROR : Please run the application upgrade from the system console to
monitor upgrade progress. Use system monitor, serial terminal or a virtual console
to initiate the upgrade.
WARNING : It is strongly recommended to copy the latest backups to an
external repository before proceeding with the upgrade.
% Pre-install step failed. Please check the logs for more details.
Can someone please tell me which logs file need to be checked.
Thanks
Scott

Scott,
As stated on the error:
ERROR : Please run the application upgrade from the system console to
monitor upgrade progress. Use system monitor, serial terminal or a virtual console
to initiate the upgrade.
You need to run the upgrade command from the console.
If VM, you can login to the vSphere Client and open the virtual console.
If physical appliance, you will have to physically connect via monitor and keyboard.
Or if you have CIMC configured, then use the vKVM

@yajimene sorry for hijacking - since the context same here, if the Prime in HA mode, once we break to HA for the Upgrade purpose.
use Secondary one to upgrade path to 3.3 to 3.4 and 3.4 to 3.7 - fresh installation of 3.8 and restore a backup from 3.7.
(at this stage still, Prime Active running 3.3 - is this a good approach? ( so production network not disturbed here, and once secondary fully done can i take primary offline and user new secondary as a primary, offline primary upgrade to the latest and join to the new version ?)
or am I overthinking the process?
