Correct procedure for default factory reset of Cisco C1111-4P ISR

Hi,

I have recently acquired a Cisco C1111-4P integrated services router which was formerley the property of a company recently gone into administration.

I do not have the unit's logon profile (username and password) and have attempted to factory default reset via the reset button  but with no success.

Here's a transcript copy of the system output :-

Hello Stephen,
Can you please tell me what do you mean by invoke a "pause" ?

by this you mean press "break" button from keyboard? or ctrl+c or something else?

when I tried ctrl +c i got to rommon 1 >

but after trying to change confreg or simply ignore configuration... the reset default never happens. the configuration stills there.

regards,

Hi, ive got the same issue. i can get into rommon but the c1111-8p doesn't want to accept any confreg registers i try. when i reboot it ither boots normally or loops back into rommon, is there a particular register in need to use for the c1111?  i cant even get to

Do you want to reset the router to the factory default
configuration and proceed y/n [n]:

if you resetting its boot as factory default

Hi Thanks for your response, i cant even get past rommon or booting to the config i don't have access too.

Can you connect Console and post complete boot log,

check the steps for ROMMON:

Step 1

Connect to the ASA console port according to the instructions in Access the Appliance Console.

Step 2

Power off the ASA, then power it on.

Step 3

During startup, press the Escape key when you are prompted to enter ROMMON mode.

I managed to factory reset easily password recovery locked (reset button had no effect, except console telling it's disabled) ISR-1118-8P with console access using TeraTerm. No need to do any weird settings for terminal. Didn't even really need precise timing, just not hitting ctrl-C too many times, because if ctrl-C is hit too many times, it will skip factory reset prompt. Worked on second try.

Thanks for the reply, I will have another go at it. I've reset a few 890 routers but this unit is being difficult. I was just going to put it in the bin.
