Hello Fellas,

We bought Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 appliance. The application seems to be pre-installed. I have gone through setup process. But I cannot connect/open web interface(https://PI-ip-address). What could be the problem ?

Hi

Can you ping the server? That should work.

Otherwise, it takes some 3-10 minutes for the server to completely start up (at least for the virtual appliance).

Can you ssh to the ip address?

Patrick

Yes, I can login via ssh to the server. It is not a virtual apliance. I can login to Helth monitor interface which is on port 8082. But https connection doesn't work. When I check listening ports on server I cannot find https-443 port on that list:

show ports

That's good.

Try:

ncs status

That should give an output like (after some waiting time):

cpi1/admin# ncs status

Health Monitor Server is running.

Reporting Server is running

Ftp Server is Disabled

Database server is running

Tftp Server is running

Matlab Server is running

NMS Server is running.

SAM Daemon is running ...

DA Daemon is running ...

Syslog Daemon is running ...

status

cpi1/admin

Now if it's not running, type:
ncs start

It should either start then, or produce an error why it couldn't start.

Here is the output:

ncs status

Health Monitor is running, with an error.

failed to start NCS on startup Health Monitor

Reporting Server is running

Ftp Server is running

Database server is running

Tftp Server is running

Matlab Server is running

NMS Server is stopped.

SAM Daemon is running ...

DA Daemon is running ...

Syslog Daemon is running ...

status

And a 'ncs start' output?

Also with 'show logging' can you see tons of logfile.

You could open a second ssh connection, issue 'show logging system tail' and then on the first ssh connection type the 'ncs start'

But I can't really help any deeper here, you probably need to open a tac case. Or maybe reset the appliance and start fresh.

I have stopped and started the system. The result is the same. "show logging system tail" doesn't give much information. How can I reset the appliance ?

I'm not sure, but check out the installation guide, it could be written in there.

Where you able to ever get your NCS appliance up and running?

Hi Rob,

No, I am not. I have removed NCS application and will install it again.

Hi Rob

Do you use the hardware appliance or the virtual appliance?

If you use the virtual one, do NOT modify the hardware requirements. That could also cause issues, like the appliance not starting up.
