Is there a way to convert the type CM4 licences to CM5 style.

Hi
There are no CM4 license files as such - it was honor-based in this version.
When you upgrade to 5.0, you use the DMA tool - this is part of the standard upgrade procedure and generates a CM5.0 license based on the configuration of your 4.0 system.

To convert your current Vr 4 to 5 license go to:
1. Under the Voice product click the Cisco CallManager Version Upgrade.
2. Please complete the registration
3. Then, cut and paste the information from the file generated by your Cisco CallManager
Upgrade Utility.
4. Click submit and licensing tool will send you an email with license file.
To migrate from CM 4 to 5 please follow below url:

Hi Tau,
Here is some good to info to get you started;
Migrating from Cisco CallManager 4.0(x) to 5.0(x)
When you migrate from Cisco CallManager version 4.0(x) to 5.0(x), the licenses that are required for existing phones and existing Cisco CallManager nodes is calculated and an intermediate file (XML file) that contains these license counts will be generated during the Cisco CallManager migration process. These licenses are given free of cost because you are already using these phones for Cisco CallManager version 4.x. If you are provisioning new phones and nodes after migrating to Cisco CallManager 5.0(x), you need to paste the intermediate license file in the License Registration window on CCO.
Use the following procedure to register existing licenses and request for new licenses.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1 In Cisco CallManager Administration, choose System > Licensing > License File Upload.
The License File Upload window displays.
Step 2 Click View File. A pop-up window displays that has the license information for existing phones and nodes. Copy this information. To copy the contents on this windrow, you can use Ctrl-A (Select All) and Ctrl-C (Copy).
Step 3 On the License Registration window of CCO website, in the text box provided, paste the file contents using Ctrl-V.
Step 4 You must enter the MAC address of the Cisco CallManager server that you are requesting the licenses for, and a valid E-mail Id.
Step 5 To obtain the actual license file, click Submit. A license file is generated.
Step 6 You must upload the license file to the server with the matching MAC address that you provided in Step 4. See the "Uploading a License file" section in the Cisco CallManager Administration Guide. This node takes on the functionality of the license manager.

Take care!

The current version will be 5.0(4)
or 5.0(4a), and you will need to run the Data Migration Assistant on your existing 4.1(X)
server first, to create a backup.tar file which is then imported into CCM 5 during the
installation process.
Once you install CCM 5.0 with a DMA upgrade as part of the installation, you get a license
file which allows your current devices to operate. You cannot add/delete devices or
Subscriber servers until you request a new license from Cisco based on the MAC address of
your Publisher, and your device needs (licensing@cisco.com, or

Hi,
We have a 4.2 system running, and want to upgrade it to CCM 5.
But i can't find any DMA tool for 4.2? Will there ever be any tool for 4.2?
Thank you in advance,
Robin

CCM 4.2 cannot be upgraded to CCM 5.0.X. 5.0 is the equivalent of 4.1.3 - in terms of feature set.

Hi Rob
Maybe i was not very clear, this people do not have CCM 4,this is their first IPT rollout(Greenfield)at their HQ,so they purchased CCM 5 and the trusted licensing style(CCM 4) instead of the Enforced licensing(CCM 5)
Thanks

Hi Tau,
Sorry man, I probably didn't read that correctly :) Have you tried this method for aquiring a new license?
Obtaining a License File
Use the following steps to obtain a license file for a new installation of Cisco CallManager 5.0 phones nodes and for updating the licenses when new phones are added.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1 When you place an order for Cisco devices, Cisco provides a Product Authorization Key (PAK).
Step 2 Register the PAK with Cisco CallManager using the License Registration web tool that is provided on CCO.
Step 3 You must enter the MAC address of the Cisco CallManager server that you are requesting the licenses for, and a valid E-mail Id. You must enter the number of nodes and phone units that you want licenses for.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note You can determine the number of phone unit licenses that you will require for each phone type using License Calculator in Cisco CallManager Administration. See the "Calculating License Units" section.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 4 CCO generates a license file with the number of unit licenses that you requested and sends it you via E-mail using the E-mail ID that you provided in step Step 2
Step 5 You must upload the license file to the server with the matching MAC address that you provided in Step 3 See the "Uploading a License file" section. This server then takes on the functionality of the license manager.
From this doc;
If that doesn't work (it should) I think I would email licensing@cisco.com and let them know your dilemma.
Hope this helps!
