Hi,
1. Can I replace Cisco's logo with my Company's logo on the 7960, when it boots up.
2. Is it possible to show company name always on the screen.
Thanks

Here is any E.g. of our logo on the phone screen.
Save the XML into a file, put it on your web server and then set the Idear URL to that file on your web server. Then set each phone Idear Time to a amount of time e.g. 10 sec (you must do this per phone).

Can you tell us how you created this XML logo ? Did you use the Cisco CRA SDK ? Or something else ? Are there any tools for converting a JPG to GIF to the Cisco XML format ?

Hi Kiamil,
I am Poornima , graduate student of Florida International University, Miami. I saw your code posted in forums.cisco.com in the discussion group for Displaying the image of your Company's Logo on IP phone 7960.
I want to know how did u get that data (pixel data) of the cip image. You can also call it cip data of your company's logo to be embedded in the asp file. I am stuck with that portion of my project. I have the image in the cip format but do not know how to get the pixel data (cip data) out of it. If you could kindly send me the information for it, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and waiting for your reply,
Poorima

Poorima -
Your best bet is to download the SDK from Cisco ( http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/570/avvid/voice_ip/cm_xml/cm_xmldown.shtml ) it has alot of the information you are looking for in it. Otherwise just search at the cisco website for more specific information.

In the example file, what did you name the file ? *.asp or *.htm ? Does it matter ? My phone shows nothing under Settings, Network, 35 IDLE URL.
12-13-2001 07:58 AM
*.xml but i can be any thing, but if you put asp or cfm then it will go thought the ASP or ColdFusion server DLLs.
To set the IDLE URL 35 Go to http://theserverwhichrunscallmanager/ccmadmin/enterpriseparamsnew.asp
Set the URL Idle to your URL e.g. http://BlahBlahBlah/MyCompanyIdealURLFile.xml
Then Set option 36 IDLE URL TIME you can not do this from Enterprise Parameters Configuration becauses there is a bug. So you must do it per phone. Go into your phone settings and set your IDLE URL time.
You should see option 35 and 36 both set, if there not you will not be able to see my logo or any other XML page come up when you leave your phone Idle.
One thing I must say, the Idle page coming up on the phone is a Pain In The Ass. We just stoped using it all our user hate it.
12-13-2001 02:22 PM
Yes - and this is why I was so hoping for a modification to the logic that would allow the idle url to check for the presence of the file and then quit back to line appearnces if it didn't exist - in this way the user would only see idle url when we had a valid file there so it could be used for tru urgent announcments
Alternatively - does anyone know if there's XML code for the phones you can put in the XML page to trigger that "Exit" softkey immediately? THen you could just normally have an IDLE URL file that simply calls the exit softkey and updates when the timer runs out again looking for a page with actual content?
(hence my post at http://forums.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Dpass_through%26location%3Doutline%40%5E1%40%40.ee764aa along the same lines :-/

Do you have the Cisco Bug ID for the enterprise parameters ? I'd like to track it -jason

How do you set Option 36 on the Phone ??? I only get save and cancel soft buttons on that option not the edit button.

Use CCMAdmin. Go to each individual Phone Configuration page. Change the default setting for Idle Timer (seconds) from 0 to 10. under Cisco IP Phone - External Data Locations.

Here's how I was able to create an idle url with a logo on it:
Add URL of the idle graphic in the system/enterprise paramaters section. The graphic will be contained in an .asp file, below. Drawbacks are that it limits caller-id to phone number only, and causes the missed calls announcement to be overwritten. Removing the text below the graphic did not allow the missed call message to come through. You have to hit "exit" while the phone is ringing to get the text portion of caller-id to show up. Also found that if you set up a global timeout-URL, you still have to set each phones individual timeout to something other than 0. You can not override the phones timer to accept the global setting.
The graphic was created using PowerPoint as a 7.5 x 15 page. Save as jpg, use anyimage (shareware) to convert it to a 133x65 gif, then use the command line in SDK tools (available download from Cisco) to convert it to cip (gif2cip.exe). Then I copy the cip data into the idle.asp file on the callmanager. You have to make sure the size statement in the .asp file is correct with the new graphic data.
Here's the resulting .asp file, but with the graphic removed (copyright and all):
(Note, in order to get this to post I had to remove all "<" and ">"s - I replaced them with "[" and "]". You'll have to change them back before using)
