Expressway C – Warning

Bill
Level 1
Level 1

I have an Expressway-C cluster of two servers for MRA, running version X14.0.3
The subordinate server is giving a warning.

Application failed: An unexpected software error was detected in smartlicenseget[8714]: unknown reason

It appears related to Smart Licensing.
But the Smart Licensing settings look good on both servers – Registered and authorized on both.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks

From the message it looks like  software bug or cosmetic. Btw  You must upgrade to latest versions and its recommended. kindly  have a look on below security advisor link.

I would suggest to hold off on the upgrade to 14.2.1, at least if your coming from 14.0.x, as it is affected by these Defect ID's CSCwd29229, CSCwd30075 and CSCwd25534. These had us back off the upgrade as it killed off the connection we had in-place for on-prem SSM for Smart Licensing.

Hi Roger,

We are currently on x14.3 in our on-prem environment, yet i'm still getting this message. I upgraded from x12.6.3 and use smart licensing on-prem server.

What version are you on and are you currently experiencing the same problem? My error shows as [14222]: Signal SIGABRT, Aborted and ID: 15010 as opposed to OP's 8714.

Logged TAC case as I can't find anything relating to my issue specifically..

We recently upgraded to x14.3.1 and we're on v8-202304 on the on-prem SSM. At times, not very frequent, we get an alarm for SL in some of our MRA Expressways. The last of those was

Application failed An unexpected software error was detected in smartlicenseget[9768]: signal SIGABRT, Aborted

We are on the same version X14.3.1 now this same error is being reported. What was the response to your TAC case?

Advice given was to reboot the cluster. I did that maybe a month back and have yet to experience any issues since. Not sure if my problem is the same as yours though?

I also did open a SR and got following defects told, for two similiar but different alarms on version X14.3.1:

An unexpected software error was detected in Thread-4[13490]: signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault

I had this problem with the version X14.3.4. I was used to configure the smart licensing parameters in expressway in : Maintenance -->  Smart licensing (event though no license required), then a reboot  and finally  the problem vanished. In our case we have an on-prem Satellite. I hope it be useful.
