hi!
I want to use a VG200 (2x2 FXS) with mgcp for Fax. But the fax doesn`t work.
With a normal Phone (like a Siemens Gigaset) it works fine.

You need to use 12.1(5)XM4, and then add the command:
mgcp modem passthrough voip mode cisco
The exact parameters of the command may differ depending on versions, etc.

dave,
I have tried that IOS version on the VG200with the command:
mgcp modem passthrough voip mode cisco
Does this command prevent fax-relay from being used?
Still have problems with port lockups on the FXS ports. No dialtone from the device. Fast-busy when called from an IP phone. I have a doc from CEC which states that the functionality is not provided until 12.2(2)XN, for which the release date keeps slipping. If the fax machines being used request fax-relay, would the mgcp command have the effect of forcing a passthrough connection?

FXS ports are used to connect end devices like phones or fax-machines. If you mean you have a fax connected to a FXS port on a VG200, then across a LAN or WAN you have a 1750 with an FXS port with a connected FAX, then yes. Need more details about the problem in order to help...

I had a problem with MGCP disconnecting the call just after the fax "tone" began. H.323 worked fine. I believe the code was .XM3

According to TAC, Faxing with mgcp on the VG200 is not supported until 12.2(2)XN which has yet to be released. Hopefully it will be released soon, the date has slipped several times. Until then, H.323 is the way to go. I have had very stable fax performance under H.323 on the VG200.
