I have two CallManager clusters. One Live and One Lab. Currently the live CallManager cluster uses a 3640 configured as a h.323 gateway. I would like to test the Lab Call Manager cluster using that same 3640 as an MCGP gateway.
Is this possible?

You can use the same gateway for H323 and MGCP, but the voice ports need to be configured with either H323 or MGCP. So if you have 4 ports, you can have two of them use MGCP and 2 use H323.

What if I only have a single T1 interface? I don't suppose I can split that up. Hrmm. How hard it is to migrate from H323 gateway to MCGP? What do I need to look out for?

1. You will need to add the router as a MGCP gateway to the CCM.
2. Then add MGCP commands to the router CLI.
3. Change the route pattern config to point the route pattern to the MGCP gateway, instead of the H323. If you use Route Groups, better add a new Route Group with the MGCP gateway. Point the route patterns to the new Route Group.
4. Remove unwanted H323 configs from the router config, and delete the H323 gateway from CCM.
