When the IP addresses on the phones are released and reset. The phone fails to come back up.

'IP address Released' is the message on LCD until the phone is power cycled manually

Is this some kind of bug??

This is working as designed. The phone will remain at that screen until it is powered off/on or **#**. I believe the assumption is that if you release the address you intened to change the network the phone is on, and therefore you do not want the phone to re-initiate the DHCP process until the network change(physical or logical) is complete. /Wes

Yes, I would have thought resetting the handset via **#** should be enough but it doesn't work. What I have however, found to work is releasing the entire configs.

Thanks for your response.
