Line Names on 7940

Hi i am having a problem changing the names of the lines as displayed on the screen of the ip phones as the names applied to the lines at setup no longer apply i have tried changing the name and description of the line using the cme web gui and the only thing that changed was the name as shown in the black band at the top of the screen the names displayed in the middle of the screen stayed the same is it possible to change these now?

To customize the line label next to phone's line use "label" command under ephone-dn, for example:

ephone-dn 1 dual-line

number 1000

label Test

hi i use the web interface to access the router and then naviagte to the correct setting now i think i have tried placing a label using the command under the ephone-dn config page however nothing happens am i going about it the wrong way?

Well that should do it, did you reset the phone after putting in the command?

Hi thanks for your reply yeah i did reset the phone and nothing still showing the old text so tried a different line with no label added and it did not update either as you say i assumed that putting inthe command followed by a reset was the way to go about it any ideas?
