Unable to post in Cisco Community

Hi all.

I was trying to send my first post into the Cisco Support Community.

Went to publish my post and I got: Your submission has triggered the spam filter and will not be accepted. If you feel this is in error, please report that you are blocked.

Mollom blocked me. Thats a new one. So how long will it be before my question gets posted?? And how will I know when it does get posted?? Do I have to keep refreshing the page?? Mollom does not know who I am (does it)....so not like it will notify me or anything?

Picture attached.

Thank you in advance for any help.

This discussion has been created in unrelated community (Additional Communities). I moved it to appropriate one. Now it can be responded by moderator's team.

By the way, if even rejected comment has been inappropriate, then it's possible the Mollom didn't missed ...

Hi Dan,

Thank you for moving this across.

This is my first post and I wasn't sure where to post it.

That is the Mollom ?

Is this a some Cisco forum filtering service ?

I'm not sure now what happened to my rejected post.. I have followed the process and send notification to Mollom but then I'm not sure now will they release my post I have to send it again ?

Thank you.

That is the Mollom ? Is this a some Cisco forum filtering service ?

Yes. Rest of your question needs to be responded by moderators team.

Dan,

To help me to keep eye on moderators team response and fact that Additional Communities wasn't appropriate could you please let me know to which community did you move this post to ?

Thanks.

Hello,

Mollom is an anti-spam tool used in the Cisco Support Community. It could happen that a word in your text matched the keywords in mollom and therefore is blocking it.

Can you try adding the text to this reply for your question? If you get an error, please send it to supportforums-info@cisco.com

Thank you.

Monica

Subject: Connecting Cisco 2960 to 3com 4500 cutting internet off

Hi All,

I was doing maintenance last week and caused an internet outage so I'm hoping that someone will be able to assist ?

SW1 & SW2 are 3com 4500 connected together via a single cable via hybrid port and vlan 501 tagged and 1 untagged

SW1 & SW2 are connected to ASAs 5510 which are in transparent mode

SW1 & SW2 have two connections to the Checkpoint 12400 firewalls which are doing all the routing: first interface it's in access vlan 501 mode and it's connected to the checkpoint interface which has the internet network created; the second interface it's in vlan 1 access mode and is connected to the checkpoint interface which has a custom network created which SW1 & SW2 interfaces vlan 1 are sitting on (so basically this is for mgmt only)

I bought two 2960 switches as the replacement for old 3com 4500 switches.

I have created a downtime plan based on the assumption that this maintenance can be completed with no interruptions (run on the ASA1 and Checkpoint A and then replace SW2 then failover ASAs and Checkpoints to ASA2 and Checkpoint B and replace SW1).

When I've disconnected SW2 from the network I had no issues.

Once I have connected the Cisco 2960 switch over the single link to an old 3com 4500 (SW1) I was causing an internet outage.

When I've disconnected the new cisco 2960 switch the internet connection came back up after approx. 30sec.

I didn't have a chance to troubleshoot this (becasue of non intrusive description of the maintenance window) so I did only few changes on the fly but unfortunately couldn't fix this issue and did have to roll everything back.

It 's worth to add that before this Cisco switch was racked I had this switch on my desk connected to the 3com 4500 switch over the trunk (cisco) and hybrid (3com) ports and had vlan 501 tagged and vlan 1 untagged. Then I had two laptops on each switch sitting on the vlan 501 and everything worked fine (I mean both laptops could ping each other).

Another thing it's the both 3com switches have stp disabled but new cisco switch have spanning-tree mode rapid-pvst enabled by default.

Could someone advise what could cause this issue ?

I have few cased open with support: Checkpoint, ASA, 2960 switch and ISP (to just check did router register anything when I caused this outage). So far Checkpoint case proofed that Checkpoints didn't register any problems but what is most important it looks like only outgoing traffic was affected.

Thank you in advance for any ideas/help!

I created discussion with such subject and text with no problem:

Connecting Cisco 2960 to 3com 4500 cutting internet off

I has created it as casual user, not the moderator/VIP.

If you still can't create it, then it's Molloms personal offense on you.

Note the test thread I created will be deleted within few days has been deleted.

Hi Dan,

Just tried to post again and been blocked again (file attached)

Can you try again? You should now be able to. If not, please send an email to supportforums-info@cisco.com

Kind Regards,

Hi Monica,

Whatever you have done you have fixed the problem.

I have created my first post and Molom didn't complain :-)

Thank very very much!

Monica,

Would you be able to help me also. I am unable to post to these boards.

Thank you

  1. better not to hijack other's thread (with issue already solved)
  2. you should provide details - text of post, community you wish to post to, what exactly mean 'I'm unable', ...

Sorry, I was unable to post so I had no option to get it solved besides hoping Monica could help.

This was the text:

I am setting up my first Cisco Switch, its a 3560G and I'm going to use it to segment my network with Vlans, I have followed this guide.

All I have connected right now is my router (cheap Home router) and I can ping devices on my local network 192.168.1.0/24 except for the router (can ping its interface 192.168.1.200 but not its ip 192.168.1.1) and I am unable to ping externally such as google.com or 8.8.8.8 if I ping google.com I get:

CORESW01#ping google.com
Translating "google.com"...domain server (255.255.255.255) [OK]
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.217.8.206, timeout is 2 seconds:
.....
Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
As you can see it is grabbing a valid IP for the domain google.com but is
for some reason unable to route to it.

I am also able to ping the switch from a client that is not connected to the switch (they both are connected to the router), but from a device connected to the switch I am unable to ping externally as well but can ping other Vlan interfaces such as 10.0.100.1

I have attached a network diagram, the only difference is the interface between the router and the switch is 192.168.1.200 not 192.168.1.2

I was trying to post in these forums under 'LAN, Switching and Routing'

By unable I meant that It told me it was being blocked as SPAM but nothing in there was SPAM or I even looked for commonly blocked keywords such as 'Approval' or 'Claim' or 'Cost' etc.

I created thread with the text you disclosed with no problem. So it's not just matter or particular word or phrase - it's something personal between you and Mollom. Sorry, moderator's team can help you ony.
