Does anyone know if the VIC-2FXO-M1 can be used directly as an equivalent to a VIC-2FXO? It looks like the VIC-2FXO-M1 does reverse lookup - is that caller ID? Any problems buying these instead of the plain FXO's as a future-proofing method when pots lines at a site have caller id (if that's what it's used for :-)

The M1 cards are a direct replacement for standard FXO's. The M1 cards will provide you caller ID capability. Keep in mind you need the right IOS revs to get the caller id commands.

Also, note that right now, you can only pass on caller ID information received from the FXO-M1 card with H.323 signaling. MGCP signaling (at least with CallManager) will not pass on the caller ID info.

This card has more features than the vic-2fxo. It has caller-id as you have mentioned and it also supports battery reversal as a disconnect method. This can be very useful if connecting to a PBX that does not support power denial for disconnect supervision. Are you connecting to PBX or CO? Are the trunks going to be loop start or ground start.
Thank you,
