Hi, Here several C4506 equipted with Sup II+, runing EIGRP routing protocol. But we met some problems in this case. After checking Cisco Document, it said the Sup II+ doesn't support the EIGRP, but we ran EIGRP successfully in several other cases with the Sup II+. So how and why does the Sup II+ can't support EIGRP?
If you know, would you pls kindly post it out let us know?

Sup2+ has limited hardware resources(compared to Sup4/5/5-10GE) and hence EIGRP is not a tested protocol on this platform. It might work but if you run into any issues, it is not supported at this time(It might change at a later time).

Yes, supposed to be, now the routing table has around 180 records including some redistributed routes. And we found that the routes changed too offten, even under the situation that any changed doesn't be made.
Thank you!
And one more question: Is there any detailed document declaired why the SUP II+ doesn't support EIGRP Pls? Any link available? So we could use the obvious evidence to persuade the user to change their minds
.
Thanks in advance!

I found a Q&A document on the Cisco web site which is pretty specific about not supporting EIGRP. It includes these questions and answers:
Q. Does the Supervisor Engine II-Plus support all the Layer 2-4 features currently available on the Supervisor Engine III and IV?
A. No. The Supervisor Engine II-Plus supports all the Layer 2 features with basic Layer 3 services, Routing Information Protocol (RIP), static routes, Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) (in software), and AppleTalk (in software) for Layer 3 switching.
Q. What is included in the basic Layer 3 software image?
A. The basic Layer 3 software image supports all Layer 2 features, Layer 3 services, including access control lists (ACLs), quality of service (QoS), and Multicast, and Layer 3 switching including RIP v1 and v2, static routes, IPX, and AppleTalk support.
Q. Does the Supervisor Engine II-Plus support an enhanced Layer 3 software image?
A. No. The Supervisor Engine II-Plus does not support an enhanced Layer 3 software image for support for enhanced Layer 3 routing protocols like Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), and Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS).
The URL for the document is:
In case you have difficulty getting to that page (which requires partner level access) I also found a page which explicitly states that EIGRP is not supported at this URL:

Yup it is not officially supported even though it may work . I have messed around with these in the lab and it will even run BGP, OSPF etc.. in the lab but I doubt it would handle a route table of any size and or all the features .
