Hello everyone,
Showing interface status on our catalyst 6509, I've seen so many input errors (samples below), The cables are already fixed but these errors keep on incrementing.
63 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
186 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored
By the way We use the IOS
Version 12.1(22)E2,
Module:
3 48 48 port 10/100 mb RJ45 WS-X6348-RJ-45
Please advise
Thanks

I would try swapping the cables to other ports and seeing if the errors persist, as a means of eliminating the ports itself as being faulty.

Runts are sometimes an indication that the switch is running full-duplex, but the other end is half-duplex.
They are caused because the switch thinks it can transmit when it likes, even when the other guy is transmitting, because it is full duplex. The other end thinks this is a collision, and truncates its frame. The switch does not see this as a collision, and counts it as a runt.
This can happen typically if the switch is forced full-duplex, and the other end is half-duplex or auto.

Had two simular situations, one was was a result of a defective cable and the other, bad NIC software driver.
