I have a Cisco 1720 with 1-Port ADSL WAN interface card installed. I configured the DSL WAN interface but couldn't turn it on with the no shutdown command. Any suggestions?

After "no shut" under the atm interface if "shutdown" is not there in the running config that means the dsl/atm interface is already in "no shut" mode..Now what does "sh interface atm x/y" reports?

It it reports "interface is up" means dsl line is trained..Tejal

Here is "sh interface" reports.

Cisco#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Cisco(config)#int atm0

Cisco(config-if)#no shut

Cisco(config-if)#end

Cisco#sh int atm0

ATM0 is down, line protocol is down

Hardware is DSLSAR (with Alcatel ADSL Module)

Its dow/down means the dsl line is not either plugged in or not trained (connected) to the provider..Its Layer 1 problem..The router is not seeing a carrier on the ADSL interface..

Here is the link which helps you to troubleshoot more in Layer 1 issues.

Did you talk to the provider about that?

Thanks...Tejal

Hi

Did you get anywhere with this?

Just wondered because I have the same problem althought the router works on my adsl connection it doesnt work on the customers. The customers circuit is OK because I have used a USB ADSL modem on it to verify the line was ok.

Cheers

Nick
