Dear All,
I have created many vlan on 4006 switch with sup WS-X4013. I found that the cpu usage is high (esp. on STP process).
What is the maximum number of vlan and stp support on WS-X4013 with 4006?
How can I solve this high cpu problem.
Thanks.

With many VLANs configured PVST+/Per-VLAN RSTP is known for high CPU utilization.
The solution would be to look for an alternative; Multiple Spanning Tree which is capable of load balancing traffic on a single instance per multiple-VLANs instead of maintaining a single instance per-VLAN.

What you need consider is the number of STP logical ports. The release notes has the maximum supported logical ports details.

You could try limiting which VLANS are allowed on which ports. We ran into this issue a while back and ended up limiting all of our trunk ports to 1-3 specific vlans each. The greatly reduced our High cpu usage.
