i have a brand new 2911 Security Bundle router, so i wanted to replace the Small 1700 seriers router, i removed the WIC-1T Card from the small 1700 Series router and inserted itr in EHWIC Slot 0 on my 2911 router.

unfiortunately i didnt see the interface when i executed the "show interfaces command"

and saw :

after isuaing "show diag"

WIC Slot 1:
        Serial 1T WAN daughter card
WIC module not supported/disabled in this slot
Hardware revision 1.0           Board revision J0
Serial number     28152071      Part number    800-01514-01
        FRU Part Number     WIC-1T=
        Test history      0x0           RMA number

what must i do? is the WIC-1T uncompatible with 2911?

had to revert back to the 1700

Bonnie

but on the CISCO site i saw:

Enhanced High-Speed WAN Interface Cards  Enhanced High-Speed WAN Interface Card (EHWICs) are the latest generation of interface cards. EHWICs are installed in the EHWIC slot on the router. Legacy interface cards, such as WAN interface cards (WICs), voice interface cards (VICs), high-speed WAN interface cards (HWICs), double-width high-speed WAN interface cards (DHWICs), and (EHWICs) are supported in the EHWIC slot on the router.  Services Performance Engine 200 and Services Performance Engine 250 support the following legacy interface cards in the EHWIC slots. (See Table 1-7.)  Table 1-7 Slot 0                                                                             Slot 1                                                                      Slot 2  WIC/VIC and HWIC                    WIC/VIC, HWIC, EHWIC, DHWIC, and EDHWIC                               WIC/VIC and HWIC

isnt that the WIC is representing WIC-1T cards as well?  if there is no slot on this thing then im dissapointed coz i have to sell it    Bonnie

yes Bonnie, i also gone thro Cisco site & found some inputs fo you:

The Cisco 2911 Integrated Services Router (ISR) delivers highly secure data, voice, video, and application service. Key features include:

•3 integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports (RJ-45 only)
•1 service module slot
•4 enhanced high-speed WAN interface card slots
•2 onboard digital signal processor (DSP) slots
•1 Internal Service Module slot for application services

You have to check If 1700 WIC is compatible with2911 series ISR.

If you have still doubt contact Cisco Tech support..

Thanks

Srinadh.

As the router is telling you, the card is NOT supported.

Hello,

The second generation ISR's do not seem to support regular WIC cards. However, they do support HWIC cards which are better than the regular WIC cards.

Hope this helps.

You will have to use one of the supported modules for the ISR G2
