Hi,

this feature is only available in  12.3(11)T and 12.4 images.

I wonder how it could prevent you from being given a private IP

Hi,

you got an IP from the ISP so now can you try pinging 8.8.8.8 from the router and tell us the result.

if it is working then do the same from a host and  post the output of sh ip nat translation on the router, also post ipconfig/all from the PC.

Regards.

Alain

cadet alain,

Please find below the output from ping 8.8.8.8: (which appears uncommunicative)

Router#ping 8.8.8.8

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.8.8, timeout is 2 seconds:

.....

Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)

Also please find below the output from show ip nat translation:

Also please find below the output from my PC (I am using Win XP Pro) ipconfig/all:

Please check with your ISP about the ip address assigned to you.

172.16.68.234 is not a routable ip address. its a private ip address.

mass raja,

I have spoken to my ISP and they are a total waste of time, they had supplied me an address 192.168.1.254 I had tried and absolutly no luck whatsoever.

Regards,

Bob.

Hi,

why are they providing you private addressing for ADSL connection ? You should really investigate with them.

Regards.

I'm so sorry I just noticed I had put a wrong command, the correct one is debug ppp negotiation.

Really sorry wasting your time like this.

Regards,

Bob.

Hi,

can you try this:

int dialer 0

no ppp ipcp mask request

no ppp ipcp address accept

then redo the test like before but first in config t: do clear log

Regards.

Alain

cadet alain,

I have removed the two above commands in the d0 interface and did the clear log and performed the test commands in the atm0 interface and show log.

I am afraid no joy at all.

Regards,

Bob.
