It read somewhere on Cisco.com that if I run this command ''clear interface FastEthernet0'' , the config on the interface will get removed. I did it on 1721 but , the config is still there on fastEth....
Can anybody explain

Hello,
I the command you are looking for is ´default interface FastEthernet0´, that command will indeed reset the configuration of the interface.

The clear int command does not remove the config.
It's task is to restart the interface.

hi gaurav
this comand will not remove any interface configuration.it will reset the interface or controller for a specified fast ethernet interface.
If you want to clear the counters. then it's a diff. command.
