DS3 bwtween router 3845 and 7206 VXR

1. I have a router 3845, ver 12.4(3g) with 1 subrate t3/e3 port "NM-1T3/E3"

2. At the other end, there is a Router 7206 VXR ver 12.4 with a One-port PA-T3 module.

I configured both routers T3 cards, I can not have the link to come up.

My ISP says they are getting AIS from my router 3845 device, I have the BNC coax cable replaced but I'm still getting AIS at my 7206 VXR

Help help help.

Beside the good advice given by engagerocks, when a controller show loss of signal, circuit is dead. Only choice is to swap tx/rx BNC's, if no changes, circuit is faulty.

Note: I'm not 100% positive that all DS3's are provisione with "floating clock", that the need to provide your own on one side.

Please send "show controller t3" taken on both routers or least your one.

!. The PA-T3 is in the slot 5, but when I issued sh controller t3, it only show the module in slot 6.

but this is the information

I issued show controller in other the have the " One port PA-T3+" card listed.

is this a point to point ds3?

if so, make sure one side is DCE and the other is DTE.

You need one side to provide the clocking and the other to received the clocking from the network/line.

Make sure you have the TX side of the BNC in the TX side of the card. If they are not in the correct connector you will get AIS. You could also ask your telco to work with you by you providing a loop for them, take a connector and put the RX to the TX of the cable and loop it back to the Telco to verify the cable before it goes into your router.

It is a p2p ds3.

what command I will ust to have "let say" 7206 VXR to be DCE and the 3845 to be the DTE.

Thanks

MPLS-RT1#sh contr t3

COL-RT1#sh contr t3

Framing is C-BIT Parity, Line Code is B3ZS, Clock Source is Internal

Your framing and code must be the same.

Then one must have clock source line and the other internal

I dont remember but i think you need to set the CRC correct on both the sides

7200VXR by default sets it to crc 32 while the 3800 can support only crc 16. Try configuring crc 16 on both sides and see whether the link comes up
