I do:
"ping google.com"
On my 2811 and it resolves and pings.
I do the same on my new 1811 and it gives:
"Translating "google.com"...domain server (255.255.255.255)
% Unrecognized host or address, or protocol not running."
So, I added to the 1811:
"ip name-server [public ip gateway]"
And can now resolve google.com on it too, but how is my 2811 resolving names? I can find nothing in its config showing a name server or dns server entry. Is there a show command that reveals a name server?

#show ip dns view

"#sh run | i dns"
